The movie did a great job showing the jokers story. How mental health played a huge roll into him actually being the joker. It was a little drawn out but I understood why so viewers can have a better understanding of why he is so crazy and lunatic and smart and free and careless and dangerous! Wonderful movie and sad as well! Very, very sad! Two thumbs up!

It's like the Fight Club of villain origin movies. To be honest, I can't think of any more villain origin movies so maybe not the best comparison. Phoenix was incredible. Probably my favorite interpretation of the character.

The movie was well written and the actor should def get an award for his role as Joker. We really submerged inside the brain of a mentally ill individual and I saw the Joke from the books come alive.

An amazing study of a man's descent into madness, or his rise FROM madness, depending on the viewer. If this was removed from the DC/Batman universe, it and Joaquin Phoenix would still be award-worthy, but the connection into the Batman mythology only made it that much stronger. Fantastic film, and an amazing portrayal of a story we've heard before, but from a fresh perspective. Bravo!
